Railay Beach

Railay has 3 main beaches ... Railay West Beach, Pra Nang Beach, and Railay East Beach

Ao Phranang Beach

Pra Nang Beach is connected to Rai Lei by a small footpath. Phra Nang (not to be confused with Ao Nang) is the outer most point of the headland or istmus, backed by a limestone cliff which soars above the beach providing some welcome shade in the hot afternoon. At the bottom of the cliff lies the Princess Cave or Tham Phra Nang Nok - local legend surrounds the cave and local fishermen leave offerings for good fortune - wood penises that is.

It is possible to hike to the top of the headland cliff to get spectacular views of the entire Rai Lei area. You can climb up on top of the headland part way along the path (look for the ropes) to a couple of fairly good viewpoints and to a spot where you can climb down into the Princess Cave which is actually open topped with a small lake in bottom. Climbing down is a bit tricky and should NOT be done in sandles.

Again, Phra Nang beach, is book-ended by limestone cliffs, has white sands, and a cave famous cave (princess cave tham phranang nok), two offshore karst islets and good swimming at all tides.

It is accessed within 5 minutes from the southern end of East Railay by a path between the headland cliffs and the luxury RAYAVADEE resort.
